Contents: Main Page
The contents of this site
cover two semester-long classes on the Scriptures and
related topics. Because of this, I have broken the
contents page down into major sections to make the
material a little more manageable. When you choose a
section below, a list of the topics included will appear
below the heading. If you want more information about
the topics, you'll need to click on the section heading
and go to the contents page for that particular section.
●
Jewish History
An historical overview of the fourteen periods of
Jewish history, from the "Primeval History" to the
Roman Period. The primary purpose of these topics is
to provide the historical context necessary for
understanding the books of the Christian Old
Testament.
●
Old Testament
An introduction to the critical study of the Old
Testament, introductions to each of the main
divisions of the OT, and pages dedicated to each
book specifically. Separate topics also cover such
issues as the Documentary Hypothesis.
●
Early Church History
An historical overview of the first four centuries
of Christianity, viewed primarily through Eusebius'
Ecclesiastical History and the writings of the Early
Church Fathers, as well as through Roman historians
and detractors. Emphasis is placed on information
relevant to the formation of the New Testament
canon.
●
New Testament
An introduction to the critical study of the New
Testament and related issues. Introductions and
outlines for each book, with introductory essays for
some. Separate topics treat the Life of Paul, the
Synoptic Problem, the "Historical Jesus," and
different types of Biblical Criticism.
●
Koine Greek
At present, this page is
just a collection of
the handouts and worksheets I use when teaching NT
Greek. In the future I hope to develop the page into
an introduction to the language, so check back for
periodic updates.

Other Topics
This is basically a catch-all page for things I
can't resist putting on the internet, including some
reflections on teaching theology and some opinion
essays on Philosophy and Religion-related topics.
